Anne Hyde
Anne Hyde (1637–1671) was an English noblewoman, best known as the wife of James II of England. Born into a prominent family, she was the daughter of Edward Hyde, the 1st Earl of Clarendon, who served as a chief minister to King Charles II. Anne was educated and well-connected, which helped her navigate the complex political landscape of her time.
She married James, the Duke of York, in 1659, and they had eight children together, though only a few survived to adulthood. Anne's marriage was significant as it united the House of Stuart with the House of Hyde, and her Catholic faith influenced James's later reign as king.
