Annamalai Temple
Annamalai Temple, also known as Annamalaiyar Temple, is a prominent Hindu temple located in Thiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, India. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is famous for its massive gopurams (gateway towers) and intricate architecture. It is one of the five Pancha Bhoota Sthalams, representing the element of fire.
The temple complex covers about 25 acres and features several shrines, including the main shrine of Annamalaiyar and Unnamalai Amman. Pilgrims visit the temple for its annual festival, Karthigai Deepam, which involves lighting a giant lamp on the hill of Arunachala, symbolizing the divine presence of Shiva.
