Anhalt-Zerbst
Anhalt-Zerbst was a historical principality located in what is now Germany. It was part of the larger region of Anhalt, which consisted of several small territories. The principality was established in the 16th century and was known for its cultural and political significance during the Reformation period.
The capital of Anhalt-Zerbst was the town of Zerbst, which served as an important center for trade and governance. The principality is perhaps best known for being the birthplace of Catherine the Great, who became the Empress of Russia. Anhalt-Zerbst was eventually absorbed into the larger Duchy of Anhalt in the 19th century.
