Anguis fragilis
Anguis fragilis, commonly known as the slow worm, is a legless lizard found across Europe and parts of Asia. Despite its snake-like appearance, it is not a snake but belongs to the lizard family. Slow worms can grow up to 50 cm in length and have smooth, shiny scales that can vary in color from brown to grey.
These reptiles are primarily found in grasslands, gardens, and woodlands, where they prefer to hide under rocks or debris. Anguis fragilis is a non-venomous species that feeds on small invertebrates, such as slugs and worms, and plays a role in controlling pest populations.
