Anglo-Maratha
The term "Anglo-Maratha" refers to the series of conflicts and political interactions between the British East India Company and the Maratha Empire in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. These conflicts, known as the Anglo-Maratha Wars, were primarily driven by territorial expansion and control over trade routes in India.
The first war began in 1775, leading to a series of battles that ultimately resulted in the decline of the Maratha Empire. The final conflict concluded in 1818, establishing British dominance in India and significantly altering the political landscape of the region.
