Anglo-Egyptian Sudan
Anglo-Egyptian Sudan was a territory in northeastern Africa that existed from 1899 to 1955. It was jointly administered by the United Kingdom and Egypt after the defeat of the Mahdist state. The region was rich in resources and played a significant role in British imperial interests in Africa.
The administration aimed to modernize Sudan through infrastructure development, including railways and irrigation projects. However, this period was marked by political tensions and cultural clashes between the British, Egyptians, and the diverse ethnic groups in Sudan. Ultimately, the region gained independence in 1956, leading to the establishment of the Republic of the Sudan.
