Andy Rourke was an English musician best known as the bassist for the iconic band The Smiths. Born on January 17, 1964, in Manchester, England, he played a crucial role in shaping the band's distinctive sound during the 1980s. Rourke's melodic bass lines contributed to the success of several hit songs, including "This Charming Man" and "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out."
After The Smiths disbanded in 1987, Rourke collaborated with various artists and bands, including Morrissey, Sinead O'Connor, and The Pretenders. He continued to perform and record music, showcasing his talent and versatility as a bassist until his passing on May 19, 2023.
