András II
András II was a king of Hungary who reigned from 1205 to 1235. He was a member of the Árpád dynasty and is known for his efforts to strengthen royal power and expand the kingdom. His reign was marked by conflicts with the nobility and challenges in maintaining control over his territories.
During his rule, András II issued the Golden Bull of 1222, which granted certain rights to the nobility and limited the king's power. This document is often considered Hungary's first constitution. His reign also saw the establishment of the Cistercian order in Hungary, promoting religious and cultural development.
