Anderson Shelters
Anderson Shelters were small, prefabricated air raid shelters used in Britain during World War II. Designed by engineer Sir John Anderson, these shelters were made of corrugated steel and could accommodate up to six people. They were intended to provide protection from bomb blasts and shrapnel during air raids.
The shelters were easy to assemble and could be installed in gardens or backyards. Each shelter was equipped with a bench for seating and a small storage area for supplies. The government distributed them to households, helping families feel safer during the war.
