Ancient Egyptian Boats
Ancient Egyptian boats were primarily made from papyrus, a plant that grew along the Nile River. These lightweight vessels were ideal for navigating the river's waters, allowing Egyptians to transport goods, people, and even build larger ships for trade and military purposes.
In addition to papyrus boats, the Egyptians also constructed wooden ships, especially during the Middle Kingdom and New Kingdom periods. These boats were used for fishing, trade, and religious ceremonies, such as transporting the solar barque of the sun god Ra during festivals.
