The An-225 Mriya is a large cargo aircraft designed by the Soviet Union in the 1980s. It was built to transport the Buran space shuttle and other heavy cargo. With a maximum takeoff weight of 640 tons, it is the heaviest aircraft ever constructed. The An-225 features six engines and a distinctive nose that can be raised to facilitate loading. It has a wingspan of 88.4 meters, making it one of the largest wingspans of any aircraft. The plane was used for various cargo missions until it was damaged in 2022 during the conflict in Ukraine.
