Amphibious Ready Group
An Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) is a naval task force designed to support amphibious operations. It typically consists of a combination of ships, including amphibious assault ships, dock landing ships, and support vessels. The primary mission of an ARG is to transport and land Marine Corps forces, equipment, and supplies onto hostile or potentially contested shorelines.
ARGs are often deployed alongside a Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), which is a rapid-response force capable of conducting various missions, including humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and combat operations. Together, they provide a flexible and powerful capability for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps to respond to crises around the world.
