Marine Expeditionary Unit
A Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) is a rapid-response force organized by the United States Marine Corps. It typically consists of around 2,200 Marines and Sailors, providing a versatile and flexible military capability. MEUs are designed to conduct a variety of missions, including humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and combat operations.
Each MEU is composed of a ground combat element, an aviation combat element, and a logistics combat element. This structure allows the unit to operate independently and respond quickly to crises around the world. MEUs are often deployed aboard amphibious assault ships to enhance their mobility and reach.
