Amphibian Reproduction
Amphibians, such as frogs, toads, and salamanders, typically reproduce through external fertilization. This process usually occurs in water, where the female lays eggs, and the male releases sperm over them. The eggs develop into larvae, commonly known as tadpoles, which undergo metamorphosis to become adult amphibians.
Some amphibians, like certain species of salamanders, exhibit internal fertilization, where the male transfers sperm directly to the female. After fertilization, the female may lay eggs in water or on land, depending on the species. This diverse reproductive strategy helps amphibians adapt to various environments.
