Amphibian Mating
Amphibian mating typically occurs in water or moist environments, where many species, such as frogs and toads, engage in a process called amplexus. In this position, the male grasps the female to fertilize her eggs as she lays them. This ensures that the sperm meets the eggs quickly, increasing the chances of successful fertilization.
Different species have unique mating calls and behaviors to attract partners. For instance, male frogs often croak to signal their presence and compete for female attention. After mating, the female usually lays her eggs in clusters or strings, providing a safe environment for the developing embryos.
