American Hiking Society
The American Hiking Society (AHS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and protecting hiking trails across the United States. Founded in 1976, AHS advocates for the preservation of natural spaces and encourages outdoor recreation through hiking. The organization works with various partners to maintain trails and educate the public about the benefits of hiking.
AHS also organizes events like National Trails Day, which takes place annually to celebrate and promote trail use. Through volunteer programs and community engagement, the society aims to inspire people to explore the outdoors while fostering a sense of stewardship for the environment.
