American Cinematheque
The American Cinematheque is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and celebration of film. Founded in 1984, it operates two historic theaters in Los Angeles, the Aero Theatre and the Egyptian Theatre, showcasing a diverse range of films, including classic, independent, and foreign cinema. The organization also hosts special events, screenings, and discussions with filmmakers and actors.
In addition to its screenings, the American Cinematheque offers educational programs aimed at promoting film literacy and appreciation. It collaborates with various film festivals and cultural institutions, making it a vital part of the Los Angeles film community and a hub for cinephiles.
