Amarnath
Amarnath is a famous Hindu pilgrimage site located in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is known for the Amarnath Cave, which houses a naturally occurring ice Shiva Linga, a representation of the deity Lord Shiva. The cave is situated at an altitude of about 3,888 meters and attracts thousands of devotees every year, especially during the month of Shravan.
The journey to Amarnath involves trekking through challenging mountainous terrain, with the most popular routes being from Pahalgam and Baltal. The annual Amarnath Yatra is organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Government, typically taking place from late June to early August, allowing pilgrims to pay their respects and seek blessings.
