Amalia of Greece
Amalia of Greece was born on December 21, 1818, in Dresden, Germany. She became the Queen of Greece after her marriage to King Otto of Greece in 1836. Amalia was known for her dedication to the welfare of her new country and played a significant role in promoting education and cultural development in Greece.
As queen, Amalia established the first Greek royal court and was instrumental in the construction of several important buildings, including the National Garden of Athens. She was also involved in various charitable activities, supporting the arts and social causes until her departure from Greece in 1862.
