Alto Flute
The Alto Flute is a member of the flute family, pitched in G, a fourth lower than the standard concert flute. It is typically made of silver or gold and features a larger body, which gives it a warmer, mellower sound. The instrument is commonly used in orchestras, chamber music, and solo performances.
Unlike the concert flute, the Alto Flute has a wider bore and a larger embouchure hole, making it easier to produce a rich tone. It is often employed in contemporary music and is known for its unique ability to blend well with other instruments, enhancing the overall sound of an ensemble.
