Altare della Patria
The Altare della Patria, or Altar of the Fatherland, is a monumental structure located in Rome, Italy. It was built in honor of Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of unified Italy, and serves as a symbol of national unity. The monument features a large central staircase, a grand statue of the king on horseback, and is adorned with various sculptures and reliefs that celebrate Italian history.
Completed in 1935, the Altare della Patria is made of white Carrara marble and stands in Piazza Venezia. It houses the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which is guarded by soldiers and commemorates those who died in World War I. The site is a popular tourist attraction, offering panoramic views of the city from its terrace.
