Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is a historically Black sorority founded on January 15, 1908, at Howard University in Washington, D.C. It was established by a group of college-educated women to promote sisterhood, scholarship, and service. The organization is the first Greek-letter sorority established by African American women and has a rich legacy of community service and leadership development.
