Alkali Earth Metals
Alkali Earth Metals are a group of six chemical elements found in Group 2 of the periodic table. These metals include beryllium, magnesium, calcium, strontium, barium, and radium. They are known for their shiny appearance and are relatively soft, making them easy to cut. These metals typically have two electrons in their outer shell, which they readily lose to form positive ions.
These elements are reactive, though less so than the alkali metals in Group 1. They react with water and acids, producing hydrogen gas and alkaline solutions. Alkali Earth Metals are essential in various applications, including construction materials, fireworks, and biological processes.
