Ali Shariati
Ali Shariati was an influential Iranian sociologist and revolutionary thinker, born on November 23, 1933. He played a significant role in shaping the ideological landscape of Iran during the 1960s and 1970s, particularly through his writings that combined Islamic thought with social justice. Shariati's ideas inspired many young Iranians and contributed to the intellectual foundation of the Iranian Revolution in 1979.
Shariati emphasized the importance of individual and collective identity, advocating for a return to the core values of Islam while critiquing both Western materialism and traditionalist interpretations of religion. His works, such as "Islamology" and "Red Shi'ism," continue to be studied for their insights into the relationship between faith, society, and politics.
