Alexius II of Constantinople
Alexius II of Constantinople was a Byzantine emperor who reigned from 1180 to 1183. He was the son of Manuel I Komnenos and became emperor at a young age after his father's death. His reign was marked by internal strife and challenges from powerful nobles, which weakened the imperial authority.
During his short rule, Alexius II faced significant threats, including the rise of Andronikos I Komnenos, a relative who eventually overthrew him. Alexius II's reign ended when he was captured and killed in 1183, leading to a period of instability in the Byzantine Empire.
