Alexios I
Alexios I was a Byzantine Emperor who ruled from 1081 to 1118. He is best known for his efforts to stabilize the Byzantine Empire during a time of crisis, facing threats from the Seljuk Turks and internal strife. His reign marked the beginning of the Komnenian dynasty, which brought significant military and economic reforms.
During his rule, Alexios I sought assistance from the West, leading to the First Crusade. He played a crucial role in the establishment of alliances with Western European powers, which helped to temporarily strengthen the Byzantine Empire and expand its influence in the region.
