Alexander the Great was a king of Macedonia who lived from 356 to 323 BC. He is known for creating one of the largest empires in ancient history, stretching from Greece to Egypt and into parts of India. His military genius and strategic skills allowed him to win numerous battles against larger armies.
Born in Pella, the capital of Macedonia, Alexander was tutored by the philosopher Aristotle. He became king after the assassination of his father, King Philip II. Alexander's conquests spread Greek culture and influence throughout the regions he conquered, a period known as the Hellenistic Era.
