Alexander Alexandrovich of Russia
Alexander Alexandrovich of Russia, also known as Alexander II, was the Emperor of Russia from 1855 until his assassination in 1881. He is best known for his significant reforms, including the emancipation of the serfs in 1861, which aimed to modernize Russia and improve the lives of millions. His reign marked a period of great change and modernization in the Russian Empire.
In addition to his domestic reforms, Alexander II pursued a more active foreign policy, expanding Russian territory and influence. His efforts to reform the military and judiciary were also notable, although they faced resistance from conservative factions. Ultimately, his reign ended tragically when he was killed by a bomb thrown by revolutionaries.
