Albanian Secret Police
The Albanian Secret Police, officially known as the State Security, was established in 1944 during the communist regime in Albania. Its primary role was to maintain state security and suppress dissent against the government. The agency operated under strict secrecy, employing surveillance, informants, and harsh tactics to control the population.
Throughout its existence, the Albanian Secret Police was notorious for human rights abuses, including imprisonment and torture of political opponents. After the fall of communism in the early 1990s, the agency was disbanded, and its activities became a subject of historical investigation and public discourse in Albania.
