Albanian League
The Albanian League, also known as the League of Prizren, was an organization founded in 1878 in the town of Prizren, located in present-day Kosovo. Its primary goal was to promote the national interests of the Albanian people and to advocate for their rights within the Ottoman Empire. The League aimed to unify Albanian territories and establish a national identity, which was crucial during a time of rising nationalism in the Balkans.
The League played a significant role in the Albanian national awakening, leading to the declaration of independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1912. It brought together various Albanian leaders and intellectuals, fostering a sense of unity among different Albanian regions. The efforts of the League laid the groundwork for the establishment of the modern Albanian state.
