Alash Orda
Alash Orda was a political and cultural movement in Kazakhstan that emerged in the early 20th century. It aimed to promote the interests of the Kazakh people during a time of significant social and political change. The movement sought autonomy for Kazakhstan within the Russian Empire and later the Soviet Union, advocating for education, land reform, and the preservation of Kazakh culture.
Founded in 1917, Alash Orda established a government in the wake of the Russian Revolution. Its leaders, including Akhmet Baitursynov and Alihan Bokeikhanov, worked to create a national identity and promote self-governance. However, the movement faced challenges from both Bolshevik forces and external pressures, leading to its eventual dissolution in the 1920s.
