Al-Nusra Front
The Al-Nusra Front, officially known as Jabhat al-Nusra, is a militant group that emerged during the Syrian Civil War in 2011. Initially affiliated with Al-Qaeda, it aimed to establish an Islamic state in Syria. The group gained notoriety for its military operations against the Syrian government and other factions.
In 2016, Al-Nusra Front rebranded itself as Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, distancing itself from Al-Qaeda to gain local support. Despite this change, the group remains involved in the ongoing conflict, engaging in battles and controlling territories in northwestern Syria, particularly in Idlib province.
