Akhmet Baitursynuly
Akhmet Baitursynuly (1873-1934) was a prominent Kazakh linguist, educator, and political figure. He played a crucial role in the development of the Kazakh language and was instrumental in creating the first Kazakh alphabet based on the Latin script. Baitursynuly's work laid the foundation for modern Kazakh linguistics and education.
In addition to his linguistic contributions, Baitursynuly was an advocate for the rights of the Kazakh people during a time of significant political change. He was involved in the Alash Orda movement, which aimed to promote national identity and autonomy for Kazakhstan within the Russian Empire.
