Akechi Mitsuhide
Akechi Mitsuhide was a Japanese samurai and general during the late Sengoku period. He is best known for his role in the betrayal and assassination of Oda Nobunaga, a powerful warlord, in 1582. Mitsuhide's actions were motivated by a combination of personal ambition and political strategy, leading to a significant shift in the power dynamics of Japan.
After the betrayal, Mitsuhide briefly took control of Kyoto but faced immediate opposition. He was soon defeated by forces loyal to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, another prominent figure in Japanese history. Mitsuhide's legacy remains controversial, as he is often viewed as both a traitor and a skilled tactician.
