Aimag
An "Aimag" is an administrative division in Mongolia. It is similar to a province or region and serves as a key level of governance within the country. There are 21 aimags in Mongolia, each with its own local government and administrative responsibilities. Aimags are further divided into smaller units called "soum," which are akin to districts.
Each aimag has a unique cultural and geographical identity, often reflecting the diverse landscapes of Mongolia, from vast steppes to mountainous areas. The capital of each aimag is typically the largest town, which serves as the administrative and economic center for the region.
