Ahmed Zewail
Ahmed Zewail was an Egyptian-American scientist known for his pioneering work in the field of chemistry. Born on February 26, 1946, in Damanhur, Egypt, he made significant contributions to the study of femtochemistry, which involves observing chemical reactions on extremely short timescales. His groundbreaking research earned him the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1999.
Zewail completed his undergraduate studies at Alexandria University before moving to the United States for his graduate education. He held a professorship at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and was also an influential figure in promoting science and education in the Arab world. He passed away on August 2, 2021.
