Ahidjo
Ahidjo refers to Ahmadou Ahidjo, the first President of Cameroon. He served from 1960, when the country gained independence, until 1982. Ahidjo played a significant role in shaping modern Cameroon, implementing policies that aimed to unify the diverse regions and ethnic groups within the country.
During his presidency, Ahidjo established a one-party state and focused on economic development, infrastructure, and education. His leadership style was often described as authoritarian, and he faced criticism for suppressing political opposition. In 1982, he resigned and was succeeded by Paul Biya, who continues to lead Cameroon today.
