Age Spots
Age spots, also known as liver spots or solar lentigines, are flat, brown, or black spots that commonly appear on the skin as people age. They are caused by prolonged exposure to sunlight and are most often found on areas like the face, hands, and arms. These spots are harmless and do not indicate any underlying health issues.
While age spots are more prevalent in older adults, they can also occur in younger individuals who spend significant time in the sun without protection. Treatments are available, including topical creams and laser therapy, but many people choose to leave them untreated as they pose no health risks.
