Africanized honey bee
The Africanized honey bee, often referred to as the "killer bee," is a hybrid of the African honey bee and various European honey bee subspecies. This bee was first introduced to Brazil in the 1950s and has since spread throughout the Americas. They are known for their aggressive behavior and tendency to swarm more frequently than other honey bee species.
Despite their aggressive nature, Africanized honey bees play a crucial role in pollination, just like other honey bees. They produce honey and contribute to the ecosystem by helping plants reproduce. Their resilience and adaptability make them a significant part of the bee population in many regions.
