African Spoonbill
The African Spoonbill is a large wading bird found in wetlands across sub-Saharan Africa. It is easily recognizable by its long, flat, spoon-shaped bill, which it uses to sift through mud and water for food such as fish, insects, and crustaceans. The bird has a predominantly white body with a pinkish hue on its back and face, and it stands about 80 to 90 centimeters tall.
These birds are social and often seen in groups, especially during breeding season. They build their nests in trees or shrubs near water, using sticks and reeds. The African Spoonbill plays a vital role in its ecosystem by helping to control insect populations and maintaining the health of wetland habitats.
