Aerophobia
Aerophobia is the intense fear of flying, often leading to anxiety and panic attacks when faced with the idea of being on an airplane. This phobia can stem from various factors, including previous traumatic experiences, fear of heights, or a general anxiety disorder. People with aerophobia may avoid air travel altogether, which can limit their ability to travel long distances.
Symptoms of aerophobia can include sweating, rapid heartbeat, and feelings of dread. Treatment options often involve therapy, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps individuals confront and manage their fears. In some cases, medication may also be prescribed to alleviate anxiety symptoms associated with flying.
