Aelred of Rievaulx
Aelred of Rievaulx was a 12th-century Cistercian monk and abbot known for his spiritual writings and leadership. Born in 1110 in Northumbria, England, he joined the Cistercian order at the monastery of Rievaulx in 1133. Aelred became the abbot of Rievaulx in 1147 and played a significant role in the expansion of the Cistercian community in England.
