Advanced Beginner
An "Advanced Beginner" is a term used in skill development to describe someone who has moved beyond the basic level of understanding but is not yet proficient. At this stage, individuals can perform tasks with some level of competence and can recognize recurring patterns in their work. They often require guidance and support to navigate more complex situations.
This concept is part of the Dreyfus Model of Skill Acquisition, which outlines five stages of learning: novice, advanced beginner, competent, proficient, and expert. Advanced beginners typically have some experience and can apply their knowledge in familiar contexts, but they still rely on rules and guidelines to make decisions.
