Adolphus, Duke of Cleves
Adolphus, Duke of Cleves, was a nobleman from the House of Cleves, a region in present-day Germany. He was born in 1510 and became known for his political alliances and efforts to strengthen his duchy during the tumultuous period of the Reformation. Adolphus was a supporter of the Protestant cause, which influenced his relationships with other European powers.
He was also notable for his marriage to Maria of Jülich-Berg, which helped to solidify alliances between various German principalities. Adolphus passed away in 1568, leaving a legacy of political maneuvering and regional influence in the Holy Roman Empire.
