Adelheid of Italy
Adelheid of Italy was a queen consort and a significant historical figure in the 10th century. Born around 931, she was the daughter of Rudolf II of Burgundy and married Lothair II of Italy. After Lothair's death, Adelheid faced political challenges, including being imprisoned by a rival noble.
In 951, she married Otto I, the Holy Roman Emperor, which strengthened the ties between Italy and Germany. Adelheid played a crucial role in the political landscape of her time, promoting the church and supporting her husband's reign. She became a revered figure, later canonized as a saint.
