Aconitum
Aconitum, commonly known as monkshood or wolfsbane, is a genus of flowering plants in the family Ranunculaceae. These plants are native to the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere and are known for their striking blue or purple flowers. Aconitum species thrive in moist, shaded environments and are often found in mountainous areas.
Despite their beauty, Aconitum plants are highly toxic due to the presence of alkaloids, particularly aconitine. All parts of the plant can be harmful if ingested, leading to serious health issues. Because of this toxicity, Aconitum has been used historically in traditional medicine, but caution is advised when handling or using it.
