Abu Zubaydah
Abu Zubaydah is a Palestinian man who was captured by the United States in 2002 during the War on Terror. He is known for being one of the first detainees held at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. U.S. officials initially believed he was a high-ranking member of al-Qaeda and involved in planning attacks against the United States.
His detention sparked significant controversy, particularly regarding the methods used during his interrogation. Abu Zubaydah was subjected to enhanced interrogation techniques, which many human rights organizations and legal experts have criticized as torture. His case has become emblematic of the debates surrounding U.S. counterterrorism policies and human rights.
