Abrolhos Islands
The Abrolhos Islands are a group of 122 islands and reefs located off the coast of Western Australia, about 60 kilometers west of the town of Geraldton. They are known for their unique biodiversity, including various species of birds, marine life, and coral reefs. The islands are part of the Abrolhos Islands National Park, which protects their natural environment.
The islands are also significant for their historical importance, particularly related to the Batavia shipwreck in 1629. This event led to the establishment of one of the earliest European settlements in Australia. Today, the Abrolhos Islands are a popular destination for fishing, diving, and eco-tourism.
