Abkhazians
Abkhazians are an ethnic group primarily residing in the region of Abkhazia, a territory on the Black Sea coast that is internationally recognized as part of Georgia. They speak the Abkhaz language, which belongs to the Northwest Caucasian language family. The Abkhaz people have a rich cultural heritage, including traditional music, dance, and crafts.
Historically, Abkhazians have faced various challenges, including conflicts and political disputes. The region declared independence from Georgia in the early 1990s, leading to a prolonged conflict. Today, many Abkhazians continue to advocate for their cultural identity and rights within the complex geopolitical landscape of the South Caucasus.
