Abdus Salam
Abdus Salam was a Pakistani theoretical physicist born on January 29, 1926, in Jhang, Punjab. He is best known for his contributions to the field of particle physics, particularly for his work on the electroweak theory, which unifies the electromagnetic force and the weak nuclear force. Salam was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1979, sharing it with Sheldon Glashow and Steven Weinberg for their groundbreaking work.
In addition to his scientific achievements, Salam was a strong advocate for science in developing countries. He founded the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy, which aimed to promote scientific research and education.
